Maternity Outfit Guide

Baby bumps can be dressed in a lot of cute ways, so I’m sharing my favorite maternity photoshoot clothes ideas. There’s something so special about capturing that growing baby inside of you. Maternity photo shoots capture a fleeting moment in time filled with so many different and sometimes polarizing emotions. Let’s be honest, basically all of the emotions, all of the time. But trust me, taking the moment to get that maternity session is worth it! So check out these maternity photoshoot clothes ideas and let’s do the dang thing together. I’m here for you, mama!

maternity photoshoot clothes ideas

Now if you’ve been here a while you know that I would pick a dress over anything else when it comes to sessions. They’re just effortlessly beautiful and flattering. I mean, sign me up for all the elegant maxi dresses! But there are a couple of different maternity photoshoot clothes ideas that you can go with when deciding your look. The cardinal rule and the most important thing to remember is that ultimately it’s about what makes you feel confident and comfortable.

Soft and Flowy Dresses

These are obviously great maternity photoshoot clothes ideas because they are comfortable and flattering and have great movement in photos. Also, because they are a little looser they’ll work after baby as well. Definitely a win, win in my book. When it comes to colors it just depends when you’re taking them. Think about the time of year and let that guide the direction you go.

Tight and Fitted Dresses

Tight and Fitted Dresses: You’ve got a cute baby bump and it is time to show it off! If you want something more form-fitting, do it! It’s such a fun way to show off your bump and I’m here for it. But make sure it’s something you feel comfortable and confident in. Now is not the time to slip into anything too tight or restricting, you won’t feel relaxed during your session and that won’t be fun.

Pants and Shirt Combo

Pants and Shirt Combo: If you’re really not feeling a maxi dress, that’s okay! It really is about what makes you feel the most comfortable and confident. If you decide to go with the pants/shirt combo I would let the seasons guide you. During the winter/fall, a soft sweater would drape beautifully over your bump and would still be a little looser and comfortable. During the summer/spring, I would opt for a gauzy blouse, because it would have great movement in the photos like a dress would.
