Blossom Session- Family Style Guide

When I talk with you guys, the overwhelming message is that you love family photos and you hate coordinating family outfits. I get it, styling is not easy and with thousands of different choices, it feels like it sucks away all your time. Family photos do not need to feel like punishment! If you’re planning on taking blossom photos, I put together a style guide for the whole family. Most of the outfits in my spring family photo outfit guide can be swapped around so you can find every single family member’s outfit right here in this post! As always you are more than welcome to check out my client closet or my Pinterest board for more inspiration.

Mom Outfit Ideas

If you want to add color, I tend to make mom’s dress a big source of color. Then I pick all the other outfits based on this one. A lot of these dresses come in lots of different colors. You can use these dresses as inspiration while you plan out your family outfits.

Dad Outfit Ideas

I usually use Dad’s outfit as a neutral based on the color of mom’s dress. Picking either jeans or khakis and then a solid colored shirt or a very subtle pattern. For this grouping, my main two neutrals were blue and tan. The sweater from Gap comes in SO many colors, so definitely check that one out. Just click on the piece of clothing!

Boy Outfit Ideas

For boy clothing, I try to mimic dad. So for this selection of boy clothing options, I stuck with tan. This would work if Dad wore blue or tan. Click on the clothing item if you want to check out the site

Girl Outfit Ideas

For a girl’s outfit, I try to do a different variation of mom’s color or pick a complementary color. Luckily there is a lot of flexibility when it comes to picking kid’s clothing.  I feel like can each of these pieces can easily complement one of the outfits above for mom.

Baby Boy/Girl Outfits

These options are awesome because they come in so many different colors and patterns. It’s really easy to find which one works with your look the best. Just click on the picture!

What a great post! I always spend too much time trying to coordinate our family outfits before a photo session and this is a great guide. Especially for dads since they tend to wear clothes that are too business like – time to relax dads 🙂
