Limited Edition Photo Session or Regular Session?

I get lots of questions about my limited edition photo sessions throughout the year and whether they are the best fit for you and your family. Sometimes a quick session is the perfect answer! Limited edition photo sessions are short, a little more affordable than a regular session, and can give you exactly what you need. With that in mind, there are a couple of important distinctions I want to make between a limited edition photo sessions and a regular session to make sure you have all the facts before you book your session.

limited edition photo sessions

1. What can I capture in 15-minute limited edition photo sessions?

A regular session can be 30 minutes to an hour so cutting it down to a 15-minute session might seem like a scary small amount of time. But don’t worry, I will capture great photos of your family. If it’s a family session, I will make sure to grab a couple of shots of the whole family, mom and dad, just the kids and individual pictures of each kid. Limited edition sessions come with a limited digital download so you won’t receive the same amount of photos you would with a full regular session. But you can always purchase additional individual downloads or upgrade to the full gallery.

2. How can I prepare my family to be successful in the 15 minutes we have?

Since limited edition photo sessions are a lot shorter, it’s important to hit the ground running with our session. To have the most success, I recommend that kids come ready and warm up for photos. This usually means they’ve got full bellies, are well-rested, and don’t feel shy in front of the camera. A regular session usually gives more time for every to work out anxious camera nerves and get into a groove.

It sounds counterintuitive that a kid who doesn’t like pictures would need a longer photo session, but a longer photo session lets me take more breaks as needed and build a relationship with your child. The better relationship I have with them, the easier it is to coach them into playing games and doing the things that let me capture the magic in your family.

3. How are the limited edition photo sessions scheduled?

Limited edition sessions are a one-day event. I hold back-to-back sessions in one location and take photos of your amazing families all day long. Spots can fill up fast, so it’s important that you’re on my email list or you follow me on Instagram, so you can snag a spot without any problems.

4. How often do I hold limited edition photo sessions?

I hold about four limited-edition sessions throughout the year. They include blossom sessions, beach sessions, fall sessions, and Christmas tree sessions. I sometimes add other limited edition sessions throughout the year so make sure to check out the investment page on my website to see what limited edition sessions are coming up or if any new ones are being offered. This year I offered senior limited sessions and they were so much fun! These limited edition sessions are a way that I can have a lower price point session for clients a few times a year.

5. Should I sign up for a limited edition photo session or a regular session?

Limited edition photo sessions are great if you need a few photos, you’re flexible with location and you know that your kids are instantly comfortable in front of a camera. I would encourage you to be aware of the time of year the limited edition photo sessions are offered and if that fits with your plans for your photos. If you want the freedom of choosing your date/time/location and you know your kids need more time to warm up, then a regular session would be a better fit for you. A regular session gives you something fully customizable and tailored to you.

There are pros to both limited edition photo sessions and regular sessions, so the most important thing to consider is how it fits with your goals and your family. Can you get the photos and look that you want in a short session? Or do you want to have a little more time in front of the camera with more photos to work with? Do you want to control the time, date, and location or are you flexible with those things? If you have other questions about whether a limited edition session is best for you please reach out and I would be happy to talk with you about it.
