Family-Friendly Summer Activities in Fresno, California

fun things to do with kids in fresno

When the kids are home from school, I’m always looking for fun things to do with kids in Fresno, California to do during the summer that will get us out of the house and explore all the things our area has to offer! Over the years, we’ve found a few Thomson favorites in the Fresno/Clovis area and I wanted to share them with you. These family-friendly summer activities are highly recommended.

Defy Clovis

This is a jumping place that my kids love! If you’ve got little kids they have a jump time, Kid Jump, reserved for kids 6 years old and under. It’s less expensive and one accompanying adult can jump for free with a paid child. If you have kids older than 6, my kids love the open jump and the zipline. You can reserve a spot for pretty much anytime during the week.

Discovery Center

The Discovery Center is a great option for fun things to do with kids in Fresno because it has both indoor and outdoor spaces, so depending on the summer heat, there are places to escape inside and cool down. They are only open Monday, Saturday, and Sunday for specific hours so make sure to check their website before you head down there.

Fresno Chaffee Zoo

The Zoo is a big hit in my family and it has a splash pad! Again, anything to help with that Fresno summer heat. I’m not sure if the splash pad portion is open due to COVID so I would call ahead to make sure it is before you go.

Sierra Sport and Racquet Club

I feel like this is a hidden gem of Northwest Fresno. I grew up going with friends who were members to go swimming and take tennis lessons in the summer. Membership is super affordable and there are no contracts. You could sign up to have access to a pool for the summer and then cancel or stay for the gym membership year-round.

Oso De Oro Park

This has a fun splashy, water area. There are lots of covered tables, two playground areas, a swing area, a lower area for a maze, grass for running, and basketball courts. There is so much to do! But you definitely need to watch out for the aggressive geese!

Bonus: if you have toddlers or younger kids, check out the Kids Play Cafe!

If there is anything missing from my list, let me know your favorite fun things to do with kids in Fresno California and I’ll add it!
