Borrow a Dress From My Client Closet!

how to dress for family photos

I’ve been a photographer long enough to know that one of the biggest hurdles when it comes to booking a photography session is actually what comes after booking—figuring out how to dress for family photos. It’s the task that seems all too daunting when you’re trying to coordinate outfits for upwards of 4+ people and don’t really know where to start.

My first tip, start with mom’s outfit and my second tip is to check out my Client Closet. Yes, I have a client closet! And it’s full of great options for moms of all ages, sizes, and styles. If you’re struggling to start, I recommend starting here.

What’s in my Client Closet?

My client closet has dresses for women sizes small to extra large, a couple of nice shirts for men, a few dresses for little girls from infant to 10 years old, and a few outfits for little boys from infant to 7 years old. If you’re open to it, we could find an outfit for everyone! But I do have the widest selection of dresses for women. The dresses in the Client Closet are some of my favorite looks. They’re lighter in color, flowy, and long because it’s a style that is flattering for most body types.

The client closet checks all the boxes because it’s new, cost-effective, and simple. First, it’s fun to wear something new during a photography session especially if you feel like you don’t have anything you want to wear in your closet already. Enter the Client Closet.

Second, picking an outfit from the Client Closet is a bonus perk when you work with me. I want to make your session as smooth as possible from the first inquiry to seeing your finished gallery and clothes are a huge part of that process.

Third, I have limited choices which is actually a blessing. If any and every store/dress is a possibility you can spend hours surfing the internet for the “perfect” dress. With my client closet, I have enough variety and options that you can try multiple styles but it helps narrow down the choices to help you make a decision.

How to dress for family photos with the Client Closet?

You can come by MTP studio anytime before your session to try on dresses from the Client Closet. Once you find one you like, I will bring the dress ironed and ready to go the day of our shoot. I have a little pop-up tent that you can change in before and after your session. During slower seasons, you can come to the studio and pick up your dress the week of your session if you want to wear it straight there and then change after.

So grab a dress and let’s get ready for fall family sessions! They are just around the corner so sign up before your days start to fill up with holiday plans and someone else takes your preferred date and time.

PS. Here’s the link to my client closet, if you want to take a little peek! The Client Closet is also a great option for maternity and newborn sessions and here’s why!
