I know the fall is most common for family photos but don’t sleep on a spring session! Every year my family schedules a mini-family session during the spring because I love the vibrant greenery and the pastel clothing options. If your interest is piqued definitely take a look at the Fresno blossom trail pictures that I take every year. Those are my favorite.
Because we’re so familiar with dressing in layers for fall family photos, making the switch to a different season clothing style might be a challenge. I want to share a few of my favorite shops for spring outfits. These shops are predominately for moms and little girls.
When picking clothes for spring I gravitate toward pastels but I love a pop of color mixed in there. What I mean by “pop color” is basically what sounds like a brighter color that stands out a little more. Having a brighter color really lets your family shine.
If you’re on the hunt for some spring photo outfits right now, these are the four shops I would visit first.
Indie Blue – This is a great option for little girls. They offer a lot of whimsical long dresses that can be really fun. They have a good mix of solid-colored dresses and patterned dresses. Definitely check it out.
Ivy City Co – Another great option for little girls. They sometimes sell dresses that are a little more dramatic. You could find your pop color here for sure. They also have some fun Mommy + Me options if you’re interested in doing that for a session.
Baltic Born – I love shopping at Baltic Born for women. So whether it’s for moms or young adult daughters, Baltic Born is a great option for really beautiful dresses. I think they have great color options and a wide variety of styles which is really refreshing. I also have a couple of their dresses in my client closet. If you’re booking a session with me, let me know if you’re interested in trying some of those.
Morning Lavender – This is another great option for moms or young adult daughters. What I like about Morning Lavender is they have casual dresses to fancy dresses. It can give you a lot of choices to figure out what kind of look you want your family photos to have. My number one recommendation always is for mom to figure out what she’s wearing first and then build everyone’s outfit around hers.
What are your favorite shops for photo session outfits? If you have a favorite, send it to me! I’d love to add it to my list.
