Christmas Activities in Fresno, CA

Fresno Family Photographer

Family Friendly Christmas Activities, Fresno, CA

The most wonderful time of the year is almost here! Can’t you just smell the gingerbread and hear Michael Buble filling your heart and home? As much as I love the magic this time of year, it is so easy for it to pass me by as I race to check off everything on my to-do list. Last-minute Christmas shopping anyone? To help remind me, I create a calendar with something special to do as a family each day. Sometimes it’s something small like playing games and listening to our favorite Christmas songs and other times it’s exploring what Fresno has to offer. Here are a couple of must-haves from my list:

  1. At Home Christmas Tree Mini Sessions– There is nothing like watching your kids experience the magic and wonder of the holiday season. For the entire month of December, my kids are bursting with excitement over every little thing. Let me capture those sweet expressions of anticipation around your family Christmas tree and in your home. I’m offering these special limited edition sessions twice during December. Make an evening of it! Gift the kids their holiday pj’s, get hot cocoa ready for after pictures and play some fun holiday music! Such a fun family evening together admiring your beautiful tree! Schedule a session here!

  2. Driving to See Christmas Lights- From the warmth of the car with Christmas music on the radio, driving to look at lights is one of my favorite Christmas traditions! You can just drive around your neighborhood or if you’re local in Fresno, check out Candy Cane Lane or Christmas Tree Lane. They are over the top and absolutely breathtaking! I always make sure to write down when the walk night is for Christmas Tree lane and put it on the calendar. My tip is to go right at the beginning. Fewer people is always nice when trying to see all the lights!

  3. The Annual Downtown Fresno Christmas Parade Again, if you are local to Fresno this is such a fun thing to add to your calendar. We love to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade so we thought we’d extend it to Christmas as well.  The parade is on December 13th at 11 am on the Downtown Fresno Fulton Mall. I’d love to see you there!

  4. Make and Deliver Neighbor Gifts– Pumpkin bread, sugar cookies, Hershey kisses, just a few of our favorite gifts to give. We have such a great time baking as a family and my kids love planning who to take the gifts too. It’s such a simple way to spread some holiday cheer and reach out to people who live nearby. This year, we’re giving out rainbow makers and I am so excited! We have some in the windows of our home and I can’t wait to share the magic they create every day when the sun shines through them!

  5. Candy Cane Hunt– Our Annual Thomson Candy Cane Hunt is one of our favorite traditions. My husband and I will hide candy canes around the house and then our kids will race to find them all. It’s an easy and fun thing to do as a family and afterward, we drink hot chocolate. Sometimes the simplest activities become our greatest traditions.

Click the button below to access my full December activity calendar if you and your family would like to join the Thomson fam as we celebrate the magic of the season this year! Feel free to download it and put it in on the fridge (that’s where mine will be) as a reminder to take the time to find the joy each day and not get too caught up in the busyness of it all.
