Newborn Lifestyle Sessions do not have to be stressful! I understand, you just had a baby and just got home from the hospital and that is a lot. I have been there too! But if you are going to wait to get photos of that sweet new baby once the house is in perfect order and you are getting sleep then you are going to be waiting a long time! Newborn Lifestyle Sessions capture moments and memories that you are going to want to look back on when your kids are all grown up and don’t fit so snuggly in your arms anymore. I promise that I will take good care of you, baby, and siblings during our session. Here are a couple of things that you can do to make the session go even smoother.
1. Tidy up the house- I am not asking you to deep clean every nook and cranny in your house. That would be crazy! But you’re going to feel more comfortable during the session if your house is picked up. Then you can focus on your baby and your little family instead of noticing everything that is out of place. So here’s what you do! Take a laundry basket and walk from room to room picking up the things that don’t belong. Dump it all into the laundry basket and stick it in a room or a closet. With all of the mess out of sight and out of mind, you are going to enjoy your session a lot more.
2. Make baby comfy- Make sure that baby is fed and full before the session. Full babies are always happier babies. Always! Turn up the heat in your house so that baby is comfortable for his or her close-ups. Cute naked baby photos are always so sweet, and your baby will get through them better if they still feel warm without being all wrapped up. If baby does get fussy or hungry during the session, don’t worry! Some of my favorite shots are of mama consoling and nursing that new baby.
3. Relax Mama!- There is no need to worry. I will take care of this for you! Try to feel relaxed and present during the session. Your kids will feed off of your energy. And if they do go crazy regardless of your zen, don’t let that stress you out! Trust me, I am used to it all. I have three kids and we have plenty of wild going on at our house. I want to capture that noise, energy, and movement. It’s a part of this moment and the wild is worth remembering.
Newborn Photo Sessions are special. They capture so much newness, excitement, and love. They make baby books a breeze to get started and provide instant photos to send to eager grandparents. Don’t push off taking these photos for better timing, these photos of your littles are too precious to miss.
