Little Miss P’s mom found me from her sister in law who won a Micro motherhood session for Mother’s Day. Mom and I had gone back and forth chatting about the theme and what props and items would be good to have for the session. If you choose a Signature Package like Miss P’s mom did, your cake is included from Floured Counter and they are always delicious! I always recommend you take home the remaining cake to enjoy as a family later that day. As a cake smash photographer in Fresno, CA I love being able to capture my cake smashes outside year around. We’re so lucky to live in a place where that’s possible! It’s so hot right now, but Miss P’s mom was smart and scheduled a morning session where it wouldn’t be too hot out yet and we could enjoy the pretty morning light filtering through the trees at Woodward Park in Fresno, CA.

Cake Smash sessions with Madison Thomson Photography are completely customizable! I have a few key props like the little tent you see here, as well as cake plates, a crate, a pink blanket and light colored mat. Some parents just stick with a cake, sweet cake topper and adorable baby, but other parents like to bring in things from baby’s nursery or banners and items they’ll use at the first birthday party. Either way, your child’s cake smash will perfectly fit you and your preferences!

Miss P was a bit tired when we started our session. Mom was smart and got her to take a little nap while I set up the cake smash. I was able to capture some sweet images of the family snuggling and holding little Miss P for a little bit until we were ready for the cake smash. Mom gently woke her up and she was all smiles again and ready to go! She dug into her eggless cake (thanks for the allergy awareness Floured Counter!) and we all had fun watching her chow down and laugh about having a whole cake to herself!
