“Wait, why are we taking photos again? Didn’t we just do that?”
Sound familiar to anyone else? That was my husband’s reaction when I told him I was gathering clothes together to plan outfits for our spring pictures. And I get it, we took some family pictures in October and it might not feel that long ago, but our babies change so quickly! And I love having a fresh picture for Christmas cards, but I love the colors of spring clothes and the outdoors so that’s what I want to display in our home. What’s a girl to do???
So I dragged my family out to one of my favorite spots and handed my camera over to my mom. She’s always helped me capture our family pictures, and this time was no different. We also dragged my dad along to help corral children and carry things. Then we proceeded to try and get my children to play, hang out and do all the things I prompt my clients to do.
Well, it was a little crazy. Trying to do my camera settings, instruct my mom on what I wanted her to capture, give my family prompts and play mom, was a little much. I think it’s time I just start asking a photog friend to swap with me or hiring a photographer to capture our family because I think it would be a lot more fun and a lot less stressful for all of us. BUT! I love these images. The light was amazing as the sun set. My girl just seems to know how to model and connect with the camera so I got some amazing images of her. My boys are clearly not as into the camera, but I feel like I got a few shots that capture exactly who they are right now. And this is our family. Messy, happy, lovey, full of big feelings, silly, but most of all full of love for each other (no matter how many times a big sib might say they wish a younger sib wasn’t around). So grateful for my little crew and images like this that help me remember how much I love them.
