I always love seeing other photographer’s before and afters so I thought I’d share some of mine! It’s kind of crazy seeing how much editing can change your image. I definitely need to get better at getting things closer to what I want in camera, so there’s less tweaking after the fact, but there is always going to be some editing to get the pop and consistency you want.
Something I’m struggling with right now is shooting dark images. Part of it is that I need to upgrade the lens I keep using (it was a super cheap one to see how I liked the focal length, but I fell in love and just need to buy the upgrade!). The other part of that is sometimes I get caught up in the moment and don’t adjust my settings as often as I should in a shoot. I want to make sure I catch that special moment rather than fiddle with my settings and miss it. Thankfully I shoot in RAW which means the photo files have a lot of information in them and I can make lots of adjustments afterwards to create the images I want my clients to have and enjoy!
I also wanted to show my before and afters because I so appreciate seeing them from other photogs! It always makes me feel better that other people have to edit too! I know even with film, photographers still may tweak the scans just a bit (but not nearly as much as a digital photographer since film is just so divine!). I don’t sell or give out my RAW images because half of my work is in the actual taking of the images, but then the other half is editing and having those images look just how I envision.
