Last month my middle child turned three! He love love loves trucks and I knew that taking pictures in front of the cute fire station in Old Town Clovis with a little firetruck would be fun for both of us. He loved having some one on one time and I loved getting to capture who he is right now.
Ames is our funny guy. He loves to make people laugh. Tonight at dinner, he heard that he was going to a birthday party for a friend this weekend and immediately exclaimed “I want presents!” We told him he wouldn’t be getting presents because it wasn’t his birthday anymore. He then slyly looked out of the side of his eyes and said in a sweet voice “presents???” We were all laughing and Ames just kept hamming it up. At three years old, he is talking more and more, but still gets frustrated with not being able to express himself fully. He has lots of energy and needs to be run around outside every day for a while or else I will be in trouble! His favorite things are trucks, dinosaurs, pushing his little brother, torturing and playing with his big sister, running, climbing, jumping off of tall objects, laughing at slapstick comedy, and generally being three years old.
Sometimes it feels so slow. Watching and waiting for children to grow up. But when I look back at these pictures of him as a newborn, 1 year old, 2 year old and now 3, I can’t believe how big he’s gotten. I can’t believe that he once fit so snuggly on my chest and now is a heavy weight filling my lap. I love this guy so much and can’t believe sometimes that he’s mine.
