Melissa and Mason were some of the sweetest first time parents. I walked into the room and Melissa looked AMAAAAAZZZINNGGG for having just had a baby the day before. Labor and delivery went smoothly for her and Peter and they’d been able to rest and relax a bit in the hospital before I got there. It was a grey day and I worried there wouldn’t be enough light but we were able to make it work. I usually bring snacks for mom (and dad, kinda ) and stopped at Trader Joe’s to pick up my favorite postpartum treat—their dark chocolate covered pretzels! Have you ever tried them? A friend brought them along with dinner after my last baby and ever since, they’ve been my guilty pleasure.
I love black and white photos, and always include a small set of them in each gallery. I really loved the mood they conveyed in this session in particular. That one of Mason holding Peter looking straight through the camera makes me so happy. That tired but content look on his face is all too familiar to seasoned parents.
Peter slept through the entire session! We tried to get him to open his eyes up for just a couple of pictures, but he was a sleepy little guy. He slept through all of the snuggles, getting undressed (I can’t resist some nakey baby pics!) and hospital staff coming and going. Melissa and Mason just seemed to be on cloud 9 enjoying their new baby boy and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to snuggle on a new babe.
I also did a Fresh 48 mini movie for them and I loved how it turned out. I try to come up with what story I’m telling before I go into the session so I have a story board of shots going through my head while I’m shooting. Capturing beautiful photos are my number one priority, but being able to capture movements and love on video just makes my heart sing. I hope you enjoy it too!
Awww…what sweet newborn photos. Great light too.
Thank you! I love doing Fresh 48 sessions!
